Service Hours Definition
As of January 9, 1993, a service hour is defined as one hour of hands-on service volunteered by a Key Club member that will benefit his/her school, community, and/or home. Fundraising done by a member, club, or zone is considered a service
hour when it benefits a project other than a social activity for club members. Service at home does not include household chores or obligatory services. Service hours do not include meeting or planning times, zone or divisional trainers, inter-clubbing, convention or convention contests (i.e. distinguished club, single service, oratorical, poster, video, major emphasis.) Not qualifying would be volunteer activities a Key Club member does for other organizations, churches, etc. (i.e. teaching Sunday school, singing in a church choir, Boy Scouts, hospital volunteer group, etc.) unless it is an officially sponsored activity of the Key Club, and open to all members.
